- Plant the seed directly into the ground and water deeply.
- Once established, the damson plum tree requires very little care.

- Water deeply once a week during its growth.
- Add an organic mulch to keep the soil moist.
- Water deeply in the autumn to protect the roots during winter.
- Feed the tree once a year using 8 ounces of fertilizer for each year of the tree's age. Use a 10-10-10 fertilizer.
- Prune the trees, if needed, in the spring.
